Paleontology SitesHell CreekLocated in Montana and the Dakotas, Hell Creek dates to the Cenozoic Era, Paleocene Epoch (67-55 million years ago). At the top of the Hell Creek formation is the K/T boundary, a thin red marker that separates the Cretaceous and Cenozoic Eras. Fossils are found in about 575 feet of grayish sandstone and shale.
