Located in the Salt Creek Oilfields of Los Angeles, California, the La Brea Tar Pits dates to the Quaternary Period, Pleistocene Epoch (8,000-40,000 years ago). Filled with tar and asphalt, the La Brea Tar Pits proved to be an unforgiving hell trap for Quaternary organisms, providing more than one million bones and fossils.
