Notes While Reading Your Biology Textbook
Follow The Steps Below for notes
while before reading a chapter section assigned in your textbook.
- In your notebook,
write down "Notes from Chp. #, Section #", where the chapter and
seciton number will replace #.
- Turn the section
objectives into questions, then write the questions in your notebook.
- For the first paragraph,
write the topic sentence in your own words.
- Indent under your
topic sentence, then write notes from that paragraph. Remember to keep write
short phrases, and not sentences.
- For vocabulary
words (typed in bold face), write the vocabulary word followed by a
colon, for example:
made of one-part oxygen and two-parts hydrogen.
- If the paragraph refers
to a diagram, draw the diagram in your notes.
- Now, repeat steps
3 to 6 for the other paragraphs.
